They moved from
Hood River with three young children: Jeff 5, Jeane 4, and Susy 2. Pat
wonders now how they had the nerve to start such a venture when they had
their young family.
The store was
successful and five years later they bought the new larger store down
the street. Since then they expanded to the left, to the right, to the
back, and now Jeff is considering going up.
Pat and Ralph were
married forty nine years before he was taken. In 1972, they bought a
house in the country, one mile south of town there Pat still lives.
Because the grandchildren have always lived “in town,” they think
Grandma really lives out in the country.
Ralph’s family were
Lutheran, so when Pat and Ralph married, she went to his church which
has always met her needs just right. Ralph and Pat worked together in
the store and Ralph encouraged Jeff to help also.
As a widow Pat is
not making plans for the future. She is too busy with a big house and
yard and all those grandchildren. She feels since the Lord has taken
Ralph, He has plans for her and will tell her when He is ready. Wise
Woman!
In the meantime,
the children thinks she is the best cook ever.
