MIKE & DAWN WALLNER

KAIDEE & KALI

MIKE & DAWN WALLNER

KAIDEE & KALI

of

Forest Grove, OR

Dawn was born in California but came back to Forest Grove, Oregon in 1973 with her family.  She was three months old.  They lived at 21st and Elm Street next to Grandmother, Hazel Davis for a time.

In 1977 her family bought the one hundred four year old house on 16th Ave.  Dawn, Mike and the girls still live here together with her Mother and brother, with the exception of two years after they were first married.  This is an arrangement they all love since they are best friends.  Brother Jim and his two daughters live near and they all share a meal together two or three times a week.

Their latest project is remodeling the house with Dawn initiating the work.

Mike was born in Southern California when his Father was a Marine there.  The family returned to Oregon when Mike was one year old.  They lived in Tillamook eight years where his Father taught school.  Then they came to Forest Grove when Father got a teaching position here.  Mike’s Grandfather also taught school in Forest Grove.  Mike and Dawn both graduated from here.

Dawn, who is a probation officer, as is her Mother and brother, recently went back to school to get her degree for this work.  Mike is a janitor at Forest Hills Lutheran School where their children go.  His future plans may be to go back to school.

Dawn’s workload is 95 to 98 probationers involving violent crimes offenders.  This may seem a light load, but it involves close supervision.

The family share hobbies together, the first “bird watching” at their many birdhouses in their yard; also fishing, camping, and hunting.  Mike loves music, plays the guitar and is trying to form a band and record.  He hopes to have a demo out soon.  “Remodeling” is their newest hobby.

They both have always belonged to Mt. Olive Church.  It is their home church.  Dawn and brothers Troy and Jim share a Mexican and Anglo heritage of which they are very proud.  Education for the family is a priority and primary goal of the family.

Kaidee and Kali’s hobbies are also hiking, camping, and art work.  Kaidee especially loves drawing and is taking Tae Kwan Do classes.  Kali is doing swimming and running.
