James was born on
March 3, 1974, and raised in Coos Bay, Oregon. He was baptized and
raised in the Christ Lutheran Church there. He grew up on a dairy farm,
the last dairy farm at the end of the road up the Coos River. He was a
real “dairy kid”, whose family’s dairy work was a seven day a week job.
James’s brother now has the dairy and has been able to change the
regular dairy farm to an Organic dairy, which involves milking fewer
cows with environmentally acceptable procedures and still maintain an
acceptable income.
Erin was born
January 28, 1979 in Colorado Springs, Co. She was an Army kid and her
family moved often. However, most of her school years, they lived in
Coos Bay. Erin’s Grandfather was Pastor at Christ Lutheran Church in
Coos Bay. She attended Coos Bay Community College.
James attended
University of Portland and got a General Science Degree. Then he went
into the Army for four years. When he came home in the spring of 2003,
he met Erin. He decided to go to the University of Oregon and convinced
Erin to go there to school with him. In 2006, they were married.

When he had his
degree in “Forest Management,” he and Erin moved to California on the
coast near Ft. Bragg for his first job. After nine months, he was
offered a better position at Stimson Mill at Scoggins Valley. James’s
main office for Stimson is near Timber, Or. He works as “Assistant
Unit Forester Manager” laying out timber harvest units, helping run
the tree farm and administering contract loggers. He has a great
variety of experience, in a different job every day. He works with
people looking out for the welfare of the loggers in a rough economy.

Erin is working
for the Forest Grove School District at “Calc,” Community Alternative
Learning Center, for high school students. This school is near the
Armory. Erin is also working on her degree in English and dreams of
getting a Masters in Library Science. She loves reading, her favorite
hobby, and she loves to cook.
One of James’s and
Erin’s most fun hobbies is keeping track of old friends in Coos Bay and
Portland and making new friends at work and church. They love to
explore the Portland area and are museum buffs. Fortunately, some old
friends are moving into Portland and family live in Beaverton and
Gresham, so they are busy people.
