Mt Olive
We moved to Oregon 3 – 4 years ago (from
the Bay Area in California) to be closer to Juanita’s work as the Vice
President of Local Telecommunications Company in Beaverton. Each week
she would leave the Bay Area on Monday morning and fly home every Friday
night. Since I was retired, it made sense for me to move to where her
job was and most of her family lived. I found the house over the
Internet, Juanita checked it out, and we began the moving process.
We checked out a couple of the Lutheran
Church’s in Hillsboro and Beaverton area. We were looking for a church
that wasn’t too small, wasn’t too large, and had a contemporary service.
Kind of like “Goldilocks and the three bears.” We also were looking for
a church that had early morning (before 9AM) service. We tired MT Olive
one Sunday and were hooked. We knew we had found the right place because
we had just moved all our “stuff” and the sermon was on “having and
collecting too much stuff”.
It took a while for us to feel like part of
the family at Mt Olive but now that we do. We find the congregation to
be kind, friendly, good spirited, and very supportive. One could not
find a better group of people to share and bring praise to the Lord. Mt
Olive has that wonderful, small town feeling, and we love it!
