He
installed our new elevator at Mt. Olive Church.
Steve has lived in Forest Grove all his life, attended
Mt. Olive and was baptized here. When he was 11 or 12 his parents bought
the grocery store so the family couldn’t attend anymore. He also
remembers working all through high school at many jobs. In July 1975,
Steve graduated from high school and had a serious accident.
During all those between years when
he couldn’t attend church, Pastor Carroll faithfully followed him, gave
him communion, and kept in touch. After the accident, Steve chose not to
work for a few years, and then from 1982 to 1992 he held various jobs
including two years at Tectronic’s maintenance and one and one half
years in sales for medical equipment company.
In 1992 Steve started his own
business in medical equipment. Unfortunately after it had sold it failed
1995. In 2000 Steve re-started his interesting business, “Accessable
Solutions” for handicapped persons. This includes automotive and van
hand controls and adjustments, chair stairs and elevators.
Susan is a physical therapist and
has worked at Good Samaritan hospital since 1981 She likes the re-hab
part of therapy and working with out patients. She and Steve met at
wheelchair basketball.
Susan was born in Ohio. Her Mom
lives in Virginia with her sister and she has seven Brothers and 3
sisters. Considering the distance they are only able to get together on
special occasions.
Susan’s hobbies are swimming,
martial arts, and reading.
Steve is more fortunate that his
mother is near at Marquis Home here in Forest Grove. His two brothers
and one sister live here also with nieces and nephews, so they
definitely have “family”.
They enjoy going out to dinner and a
movie with friends. Of course there is their little dog Sophie. About
two years ago they decided to come back to church. Why? Something just
moved them to do so and they are Happy here in our “family” church.
