This is a couple who are living
probably the most productive years of their lives here at Forest
Grove. Their lovely home is tucked in a private corner near Forest
Gale Heights not too far off of Gales Creek Hwy.
Dick was born in Forest Grove. His
family moved to Vernonia for a while and then into Portland where he
started the first grade. When he was in the fourth grade they moved
to Forest Grove and stayed. He graduated here in 1953ish worked a
couple of seasons in Forestry out of Jewel then he went to work at
the Forest Grove Forestry Department and stayed there until
retirement.
Judy was born in Portland, but
moved to Aloha when she was two. She graduated from Beaverton in
1967. She married and moved from Hillsboro to Sweet Home in 1973 and
stayed there for fifteen years working for friends who owned and
operated a Metal Detector Distributing Company. When the company
disbanded she and her daughter, Sandy, moved back to Hillsboro where
her folks lived. She went to work in Portland for a Chemical
Wholesaler in 1986.
In May of 1988 friends of Judy’s
invited Judy and Sandy to dinner where she met Mr. Kaphammer. It was
a set-up. Later it seemed, most of them worked at Rogers Organs Co.
Judy works now for Perma Post
across the street from McKenzie Ford.
Judy’s daughter Sandy Mozzillo,
was born in June - 1978. She married John Norkeveck in 1997 and they
have three boys, ages 10 - 9 - 4. John works for Power Equipment
Systems in Salem and Sandy works as Assistant Manager for Fred
Meyer.
This unusual family are taking
care of John’s disabled Mother and a half-brother (17) and
half-sister (16) and have done this for the past five years, all
eight people living together.
Judy and Dick have been members of
Mt. Olive for the last twenty years. Judy was raised at Bethleham
Lutheran in Aloha.
HOBBIES; Dick loves fishing,
mountain bike riding, yard work, and RVing. He has ridden the new
Manning Trail to Vernonia on the old RR track trail, 39+ miles. Judy
loves reading and Rving. The love to go to the ocean, especially
Pacific City.
We can’t forget Whit, their pet
dog, who gets them up at 5 a.m. except when they’re vacationing.
Then he sleeps in until 7 a.m.
