Faye
was born in South Dakota. She was raised a Lutheran, went to a Lutheran
School and a nearby Catholic Nursing School. She has been “Lutheran”
all her life. She attended Trinity and Calvary Churches in Hillsboro
before coming here. She came to Mt. Olive in 1991.
In 1980, she was
divorced and assumed the responsibility of raising her four children:
Miriam, who has two children and lives in Forest Grove, and is Faye’s
right hand; Bobbette, who has one boy and one girl and lives in
Hillsboro; Susanne, who is not married and travels the United States;
and Mark, who is a deputy sheriff of Clackamas County and his wife, a
deputy sheriff of Washington County.
Faye is a nurse, a RN. For many years
she worked at Maple Street Clinic for the doctors there, among them, Dr.
Woods and Dr. Gray. When she neared retirement, she took a year off,
and then went to work at Alterra Retirement home for nineteen months.
In December 31, 2001 Faye retired for good. In January of 2002, she was
diagnosed with cancer and a second rare disease.
Faye has worked to care for the people in
our community for over twenty-five years. Most of us don’t realize this
as we go about our daily business, touching people every day without
realizing how important they are to us.
One day when she was just driving around
she drove past the “homestead” and saw a place for sale. She decided on
the spur of the moment to sell her Hillsboro home and settle in Forest
Grove.
Now she fills her days with hobbies such
as crocheting, needle point on plastic canvas, and taking care of her
flowers.
