Florence Thies

Forest Grove, Oregon

Florence is a true Oregonian, born in McMinnville., Oregon. And was raised in there. Her family were members of the saint John’s church. When she and Don Thies married they moved to the Yamhill.  When Don got a job in forest grove in 1968 they moved out at Thatcher and became members of mount olive church. Pastor Carow was our minister then.

When Florence graduated from high school, she got a job as head cashier at a wholesale grocery and worked until Don junior was born. Much later after Cindy was born she went to work for gray and company in forest grove, a job she could take time off from if need be for the family.

The Florence is a good church worker who has been a member of the L. W. M. L. Since 1968 and who now leads the Wednesday Bible class.  This is a not so small ladies Bible class, not only a Bible study group but a good support group for the ladies. 

Florence’s favorite hobby is reading and collecting dolls with several glass cases of beautiful dolls. There was a time when she enjoyed traveling but she has been there and done that so now staying near home is we’re hobby.

Children: Don junior lives in Vancouver, Washington and manages Stark vacuum stores. He got his business and journalism degree at Warner Pacific and his teaching degree at Concordia

Lori Clapshaw has three years of college and helps her husband Doug, who is an electrician.

Bradley Thies is vice president and general counsel for at the FEI electronics. He got degrees at Willamette College and his law degree at Columbia.  Cynthia (Cindy) works in her husband’s office. He is a Prosthodonist in Eugene. Cindy is a certified social worker and got her master’s at Portland state.

All of the children worked and saved for college since they were very young.

Florence has seven (soon to be eight) grandchildren and two great grandchildren, Terra and Jason.
