Betsy and David Powell

Betsy and David Powell,

Jessie, Jeremy, &

Mackencie (Mack)

Unfortunately, The Powell's have moved away from Forest Grove but we'll always consider them part of  Mt Olive in our hearts.

Although Betsy was not born in Oregon, she came to Sauvie Island as a baby and was raised their, so, in reality She and David are true Oregonians.  David was born and raised in Eugene Oregon.  He was raised in the Disciple of Christ church.  His father was a preacher and professor.  When Powell’s came to forest grove, they visited several churches in the area but found some quite unbiblical.  They researched our church about a year ago and have enjoyed attending here.

They live in a quiet neighborhood in a beautiful restored home west of our church a few blocks.

Betsy and David met through a university of Oregon exchange program in Germany. David did his graduate work at Berkeley. They have been married for 21 years but waited eight years to have children. Their son Mackencie (Mack) is twelve, their son Jeremy is ten, and their daughter Jessica is five years old.

Betsy teaches our part time at the Emmaus Christian School, the fourth through eighth grades and a kindergarten class. At this time her main focus is raising the children although she hopes to take an art class in the fall. Reading mystery stories is her escape, clean up after two cats, a dog, a rabbit, a hamster, and 2 fish her daily chores

David works for Intel as a business manager for sales and marketing. His main job is to be sure things run smoothly in the department. He also travels internationally for Intel, recently to China and he has also been to Russia.

Now, with his children and work there is little time before hobbies, but when time permits he is a fanatical fly fisherman and took lessons in fly tying from Tom Anderberg.

Mark and Jeremy will soon start in a little league and Jesse swims and plays the piano with Pastor Carrow’s granddaughter, Ashton.

In August the family will take a three week vacation to Germany and Denmark for a family reunion.

This is a busy, energetic family whose faith is very serious and very important to them.
